The North Sea & Rameses III-“Night Of The Ankou”
The North Sea & Rameses III - Night Of The Ankou by _type
Night of the Ankou is an immense collaboration between London based psychedelic-ambient three piece Rameses III and Tulsa’s finest free folk rebel Brad Rose aka The North Sea. Rose might be better known as the brains behind Digitalis, a multi-media wyrd folk empire acting as a cdr label, magazine, book publisher and full blown label but it is his own musical compositions that remain at the core of whatever he turns his hand to. Both artists had crossed paths before this releasing on similar labels, with Rameses III even issuing a limited edition cdr for Brad’s own Foxglove imprint, so it was only a matter of time before the two decided to join forces. As with so many overseas collaborations these days, the two acts have never actually met in person – instead they worked by re-moulding each others tracks, working their own ideas into the skeletons of that of the other, and the result is mesmerising.
Opening track ‘Death of the Ankou’ is a hypnotic journey into the instrumental ambience explored by such acts as Popol Vuh or Stars of the Lid, yet adds a sense of cinematic adventure which could be compared to Type’s very own Deaf Center. We are transported quite promptly into a spiritual, oriental world of water, bamboo, beauty and restraint which is simultaneously calming and beguiling. The second piece, entitled ‘Night Blossoms Written in Sanskrit’ is different; the ambience is filled out by echoing guitar, and the mood goes from peaceful and spiritual to truly triumphant. It would even be possible to compare this track to the later work of Slowdive – it has that same blissful, life affirming quality which makes you remember why you loved music in the first place! The disc is polished off by a remix from the Type Records boss himself Xela, and pulls together the ideas explored in the first two tracks, adding elements of his own signature production which will serve as a good taster for his forthcoming third album. Drones and bowed guitar squeals are spread densely over light percussion, harp and other-wordly sounds to produce something unusual but hugely enjoyable.
This maybe Type’s first foray into the weird world of psychedelic folk music, but given the deep ambience and mysterious cinematic beauty of ‘Night of the Ankou’, it is a match made in heaven.

Halo Manash - Par-Antra I: VIR (2004)
"The visual and aural representations of 'Vir' are a result both of synthesis and of driving energy sources. This goal, 'Vir', together stands for and yet helps overcome the conflict of such dualisms as the many and the one, the diffused and the concentrated, disjointed and conjointed, differentiated and undifferentiated, external and internal, visibly illusory and invisibly real, the physical and metaphysical.'

Arktau Eos - Mirrorion (2006)
Presented in seventeen chapters that can be approached as singular gateways or a slowly unfolding journey of epic proportions, the debut album of Arktau Eos is a challenging, complex work. Born of intense private musico-magical sessions held in places abandoned by man and further refined in the temple-laboratory of the duo, it is the distillation of seven arduous months of work.
As the title suggests, "Mirrorion" is the music of stellar light thrown down from the Heaven's zenith and its eldritch reflections in the depths below, uniting atavistic elemental noise with serene passages of crystalline, spectral ambience. Ultimately, "Mirrorion" seeks to surpass such earthly definitions in favour of a non-dual vision of reality, hopefully transforming the listener in the process.
For this recording Arktau Eos have favoured an organic approach with majority of instrumentation being of acoustic variety, including the unearthly choral of the kanglings, piercing blasts of windbones, accelerating steel-plate rolls, singing bowls and various kinds of stringed instruments

Inade - The Incarnation of the Solar Architects (2009)
There is a world that shadows our world, a world of mysterious design and unspoken secrets, of space that breathes and infinite echoes that never cease to cry. Mirrors that refract images into dark pools of cosmic nothingness. Inade explore these worlds on their latest masterpiece, The Incarnation of the Solar Architects, in which sound is utilized in a transformative manner, not only to focus on that which lies beyond and that which has never been seen, but to embrace the Darkness and let it wash over one's soul. The mythology that Inade has created touches that place beyond forever, yet now, through the insistence of that which lurks in the margins, a metamorphosis has transpired, in which the cosmos of self has awakened. If one believes that God is everywhere, so is the Darkness that came before Him. A Darkness thriving with anonymous ideals (the possibilities are endless ... ) and devious intentions, resplendent with mystical creatures that shamble through antediluvian kingdoms constructed from polished metal, luxurious crystals, and unlimited dreams ... though one would need new eyes to see them, and new ears to hear them. Inade provide the soundtrack--the frisson of unease is abundant, a churning, seething dread that veers into awe. It's up to the individual listener to listen intently, behind shuttered eyelids ... to see and experience the true labyrinthine hierarchy of black splendor that awaits.

Sergei Bessoltsev-single ep
Piano Works (John Holowach)
1. My Piano Sings (Part 4) (feat. Joana Smith)
Using Joana Smith's "Our Bed" (check her out at joanasmith.net), myself and my group Tryad weave an impressive, melodic, dark piece, stabbing with group member Vavrek's vocals. (NEVER BEFORE RELEASED)
2. My Piano Sings (Part 2)
Created (I think) back in 2004, this was a fun, hopping piece with a bass and a nice rhythm.
3. My Piano Sings
The original, made in early 2004 (or late 2003, I can't remember). Uses a very altered sample of "Claire de Lune" to back it.
4. My Piano Sings (Part 5) (feat. E-Train)
Utilizing samples from a friend's first attempt at something, this song sports a piano backing (of course) with strings and a groovy drum section. (NEVER BEFORE RELEASED)
5. Rain (Fantasia on Gymnopedie No. 1)
A reworking of the Satie piece.
6. My Piano Wakes
Probably my favorite of the new ones for this album (although that's a toss-up with Part 7), this one is a simple melody against the backdrop of rain. Perhaps repetitive at the outset, things begin to change and shape a little after the one minute mark. (NEVER BEFORE RELEASED)
7. Acid Piano
Using a small sample from Steven J. Kukla's piano variation of "Parisian Bells," this work sports a strong drum backing with hefty rhythms. (NEVER BEFORE RELEASED)
8. Death of the Little Soldier (a.k.a., My Piano Weeps)
An original piano composition, telling the sad tale of a young man who fought and died in a great war, and is now just a small, frail body lying among his fallen comrades on a forgotten battlefield...
9. My Piano Sings (Part 3)
A favored song among people who like my music, this needs no introduction.
10. My Piano Sings (Part 7)
A strong, powerful piece with layed piano and bass. I highly recommend you get this one, if no other. (NEVER BEFORE RELEASED)http://www.archive.org/download/Piano_Works/Piano_Works_64kb_mp3.zip
Des Slow & The Stop Pills-Acces Aux Quais
The tracks in 'Acces Aux Quais' use processed field recordings of trains as their only source material.
"To journey, that is, for a traveller to experience departure, transition and arrival, requires a mixing of themselves and others...Artefacts, moments in time, particular places, all these may aid or resist the ongoing creation of that journey and traveller. Each fluid mixing creates different and changing experiences: time, memory and place are never fixed.
...A journey is actively made through the traveller. It is made through the transformation of the traveller and their experience of the world; making the transition from departure to destination. ...A traveller is not just in motion, but always in transition."
Laura Watts 'An ethnographic guide to: making a train journey'. Published by the Centre for Mobilities Research, Lancaster University, UK at http://www.lancs.ac.uk/postgrad/wattslj/cemore.
I am currently working on ambient war soundscapes and a long-term project focused on political terrorism and cultural resistance from the late 1960s and beyond. I welcome any sonic contributions to either of these projects (and indeed any others that people feel inspired to collaborate on). va-Calling All Fiends
Halloween is meant to be scary, right? Year after year we dust off the old Halloween novelty records. While those are fun for parties, they are not at all scary. Oddio Overplay put the challenge to musical artists the world over to conjure up Halloween music that is "frightening, damaging and disturbing." No "Monster Mash," instead creepy soundtracks for a fiendish Halloween. The artists succeeded with CALLING ALL FIENDS! Some of these pieces will creep you right out of your skin. Do you dare to listen alone in the dark?

Eclecticism, experimental, soundscape, strange, electronica...Sounds, sensations and the melodies of night city reflected and passed through dark glass of the casual car.
Djet is the solo project of Alexander Lisovsky which exists since 2002. The basic direction in creativity Djet is synthesis of various styles and directions in electronic, acoustic and noises to music. Connections rational with irrational, eclecticism and sound installation, soundart and soundscape are the basic clothes covering the main core - the rhythm. Style can be named as - IDM/synthesis experimentation. Process of creation of music is similar on expressive painting where instead of brushes Djet uses various computer programs, musical (and completely not musical) tools and other adaptations, with help which it is possible to take sounds...process creations of music for Djet the end result is more important, than. Mantis Mating Call - Eat The Weak
Project MMC is mimicking the noises of the insect world on a different frequency. The sound is sickly pre-modulated and distorted.
Music with no emotions at all or at least, this is how it seems. Insects are much different from us and this is how they would sound and how MMC interprets the micro world in music. Itâs visualization with all of its inhabitants, fighting for survival like cyberpunk characters, feeding on what they find and running away from the opposing species. Mantis Mating Call is an existence of war!

i AM esper and Mystified- Disintegration Ranch
While further exploring electro-acoustic territory, the two artists i AM esper and Mystified decided to collaborate. i AM esper is known for playing humming baritone guitar drones, and Mystified, more recently, for creating ambient drone textures from trombone notes. i AM esper laid down 5 nice tracks and Mystified remixed them, re-composing and processing the sounds. The result, Treetrunk feels, is quite powerful, covering emotions from total bliss to deep despair. Somehow the use of "real" instruments has brought these feelings out. http://www.archive.org/download/Disintegration_Ranch/Disintegration_Ranch_vbr_mp3.zip

Bing Satellites returns with the fourth release in as many months.
'Time' is an ambient album but it is emotive and psycheldelic, touched by Bing's love of shoegaze and experimental music. The sounds on this album come from a wide variety of sources - synths, laptop, guitar, clapped ot old keyboards and objects lying around Bing's studio in Manchester.http://www.archive.org/compress/BingSatellites-Time

"This album is inspired in part by the exploration of new musical apps offered on the iPhone. It is primarily the result of late night experimentation without any specific idea or concept in mind beyond the creation of sound.
All soundscapes created on a MacBook Pro with Ableton Live and an arsenal of soft synths and effects via Reaktor. iPhone apps used include Runxt, Jasuto and modAxis.
Recorded in Austin, Texas, January through March, 2011."
